CTE Dual Credit
CTE Dual Credit allows high school students to earn college credit for completing Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses taught by certified instructors. In partnership with Centralia College, high schools offer college-equivalent courses for dual high school and college credit. These credits are transferable to any community or technical college in Washington state.
Benefits of CTE Dual Credit
- Save time and tuition costs by getting a head start on fulfilling college degree or
certificate requirements.
- Complete courses that help prepare for career opportunities beyond high school.
- Learn skills to be productive in the working world.
- Enjoy hands-on learning and curriculum that is rigorous and engaging.
CTE Dual Credit Enrollment Steps
- Visit your Counseling/Career Center at your high school for help in selecting courses
that match your career pathway.
- During the semester, work with your teacher to achieve the required skills and competencies.
- Earn at least a "B" grade in the course.
- Upon successful completion of the course, submit a Centralia College online admission form.
- Complete the Dual Credit Request for Credit Transcription Form to get the credits on your Centralia College transcript.
Once you've completed your Career and Technical Education (CTE) course(s) at high school, you can request Centralia College to transcribe the credit by submitting the Dual Credit Transcription Request Form.
Transcription of your CTE credits is important for several reasons:
- Continuing at Centralia College: If you plan to continue your education at Centralia College in a degree program, having your CTE credits transcribed ensures they are applied to your degree progress.
- Employment Applications: After high school, you may need a record of the courses you've completed to submit with job applications. Transcribing your CTE credits helps you demonstrate the skills and education you've acquired.
- Military Service: If you're applying for military service, completing college credit may qualify you for a rank bump, and having your credits transcribed will help you receive that benefit.
- Transferring to Another College or University: If you plan to continue your education at a different community college or university, transcribing your CTE credits ensures they can be evaluated for possible transfer, helping you move forward with your academic goals.
Be sure to request the transcription of your credits as soon as you've completed your courses to take full advantage of these opportunities.
Students can access unofficial transcripts through their ctcLink account. When logging
in, select Academic Records from the Student Homepage to access grades and transcripts.
Official transcripts can be ordered through ctcLink. Please refer to the Transcripts webpage for instructions.
Creating or Renewing CTE Dual Credit Articulations
Articulations are reviewed every year by the CTE Directors at the high schools and the Director of Transitional Studies. If you have a new articulation you would like to submit for review, please send your framework to Lindsey Garcia, Director of Transitional Studies.
