Running Start Admission
Getting started at Centralia College is easy and free. Student seeking to participate in the Running Start program can follow these simple steps to apply and register.
Running Start is a state program for academically qualified juniors and senior high school students. You can enroll in courses to fulfill high school graduation requirements and earn college credit.

EXTENDED: Admissions & Registration for Spring Quarter
Your high school may be closed, but you can still be on track to graduate and go to college in the fall.
Take Centralia College classes and earn college credit while your high school is closed. Apply by April 1. Classes start April 6.
Note: Due to COVID-19, be prepared to access class materials online even if the class is listed as a face-to-face class. If want to enroll in Running Start for fall quarter (September 2020), please see our normal Steps to Enroll for Running Start below.
Complete these steps by April 1
- Apply online to CC to get your Student ID number. Your application will be processed in 1-2 business days. An email will be sent to the email address on your application with your student ID number.
- Once you receive your acceptance email from CC, set up your CC student email account. Follow the instructions for activating student email on the IT-Web Services page.
- Determine your high school graduation requirements. Email your high school counselor if you are able to communicate with them. No access? Email firstname.lastname@example.org a copy of your current second semester schedule and we will place you into equivalent courses at CC.
- Submit your Running Start Verification Form and pay fees or apply for a fee waiver. Most high school counselors are available via email while schools are closed. Please work with your counselor to complete a verification form via email. No access? Email email@example.com and we will reach out to your high school. Running Start Verification Forms will be accepted as students or the college are able to connect with the high school counselors.
STEP 1 - APPLY FOR CENTRALIA COLLEGE
Applying for admission to Centralia College is as simple as visiting the Enrollment Services Office (second floor of the TransAlta Commons on the main campus or Centralia College East in Morton) or completing an online admission form. There is no cost to apply.
STEP 2 - APPLY FOR RUNNING START
Complete the Running Start application. Submit to the Advising/Counseling Center.
STEP 3 - SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS
Submit your official high school transcript to the Advising/Counseling Center.
STEP 4 - SUBMIT PLACEMENT
Submit Smarter Balanced test scores to the Advising/Counseling Center or take the college placement test. See College Placement Testing Tips. If you took the Smarter Balanced test, ELA scores of a ‘3’ or higher will be accepted.
STEP 5 - MEET WITH AN ADVISOR
Schedule an appointment for advising by calling the Advising/Counseling Center at 360-623-8967 or Centralia College East (Morton) at 360-496-5022.
STEP 6 - ATTEND AN ORIENTATION
The student and a parent or guardian must attend a mandatory Running Start Student and Parent Orientation.

STEP 7 - REGISTER
Register at the Enrollment Services Office with your registration form and the completed and signed Running Start Verification Form.
