CC now accepting applications for new bachelor's degree in Behavioral Healthcare
Centralia College has received final approval to offer a fifth bachelor’s degree - a Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Healthcare - starting this fall.
The BAS-Behavioral Healthcare trains students in the treatment of mental illnesses, substance use disorders, poverty,
and homelessness. Graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce or transition
to graduate degree programs in fields like social work, addiction treatment, or counseling.
Priority applications are now being accepted online through July 30. Applicants will be notified regarding admission by Aug. 16. Classes start Sept. 20.
“Locally, there is huge demand for people with training and advanced degrees in behavioral healthcare,” said Connie Smejkal, dean of Business, Teacher Education, and Family Development. “We heard from countless employers and worked directly with them to develop a program that would meet the needs of our immediate community. We also have current students and graduates from our Substance Use Disorder Professional and Criminal Justice programs that want an advanced degree to further their careers. This program is a good fit for those students, as well.”
The BAS-BH is an evening hybrid program. Classes meet in-person two evenings per week - 5-8:50 p.m. Tuesdays and 6-7:50 p.m. Thursdays – and the remaining classwork is completed online.
Centralia College also offers bachelor’s degrees in Applied Management, Diesel Technology, Information Technology: Application Development, and Teacher Education (K-8).
