CC to host Memorial Day Observance on Thursday, May 25

The formal ceremony will include loud canon fire at 10:30 a.m.

Centralia College Veterans’ Center will host a Memorial Day Observance at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25, near the campus clocktower. The event is open to the community and will include campus and community speakers, the playing of Taps, and the singing of The National Anthem.

As part of this observance, three blasts from a canon will be heard throughout campus and the immediate vicinity shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday. These are scheduled blasts and not due to a campus emergency.

The program includes a welcome by Kathy Tukes, an Air Force veteran who now works in Enrollment Services at Centralia College, and Paul Murphy, a Centralia College student and the campus’ Vet Corps Navigator. Rep. Peter Abbarno (R-20th District) will also be speaking. Kaitee Carney will be singing The National Anthem.

Parking is available in the lot on Centralia College Boulevard at Rock Street.

Centralia College will be closed Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day holiday.
