Court Stanley selected for CC Board of Trustees
Gov. Jay Inslee has selected Court Stanley to serve on the Centralia College Board of Trustees effective immediately. Stanley replaces Jim Lowery, who served as a trustee since 2009. Lowery’s term Oct. 1.
“We are very excited to welcome Court Stanley to the Centralia College Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Bob Mohrbacher, Centralia College president. “Court has a long history in forestry and community service. He brings a wealth of experience in job creation and resource management, and we’re excited to tap into that knowledge as we move the college forward into a new economy.”
Stanley began his career in the woods more than four decades ago, planting trees, cruising timber, then as a forest engineer in a remote logging camp in southeast Alaska. He began working for Port Blakely Tree Farms in 1986, auditing tree planting, surveying, and inventory cruising. He worked his way through the company, becoming District Forester for Southwest Washington, Chief Forester, Vice President, and then President of Forestry in 2006. He retired from the company in July 2020.
He has served on the boards of the Washington Forest Protection Association and Oregon Forest Industries Council. He currently serves as president of the United Way of Lewis County, board member of the World Forestry Center and the Washington Farm Forestry Association, and is the board chairman of Wilcox Family Farms, a 100-year-old sustainable farm.
He has a Forestry Tech degree from Green River College and a bachelor’s degree in Forest Engineering from the University of Washington.
“I am honored to be chosen for the board and feel privileged to be associated with Centralia College and the amazing group of people leading it,” Stanley said of his appointment.
Stanley will make his public debut as a Centralia College trustee at the board meeting Oct. 7. Trustees in the state’s two-year college system serve 5-year terms.
