CC Foundation draws winning ticket for 2019 Elk Hunt Raffle
On Aug. 5, the Centralia College Foundation held its drawing for the 2019 Dave Sherwood Memorial Elk Hunt Raffle. The winner was Larry Embrey of Tacoma. Embrey has purchased raffle tickets for several years to support the Dave Sherwood Memorial Scholarship and said he was thrilled to win.
As winner of the raffle, Embrey will be allowed to hunt for a big bull elk (minimum three-point) on TransAlta Centralia land. The hunt is a modern rifle hunt set for Nov. 2-3. Sandy Yanish from TransAlta drew the winning ticket Aug. 5.
The 2019 Elk Hunt Raffle raised $4,700 for the Dave Sherwood Memorial Scholarship Endowment. This year, three students received Dave Sherwood Memorial Scholarships. The raffle and elk hunt honor Dave Sherwood, a popular and respected manager at the Centralia TransAlta plant who died in a hunting accident in 2011.
