Centralia College Committees

College Committees With Student Members

Application for most college committee student positions are made through the Associated Students of Centralia College (ASCC). All appointments are made by the ASCC Student Government.

Student Conduct Committee
Reviews and acts upon grievances filed by students and acts as a hearing court for disciplinary action. This Board only meets on an as need basis. (Four students needed)

ASCC Interview Committee
Oversees the ASCC interview process for candidates for Student Government. Meets during spring quarter. Meeting time will be determined in spring 2017. (Six students needed)

ASCC Service & Activities Fee Budget Committee
A recommending body that reviews and recommends the Service & Activities Fee budget. It’s responsible for proposing program priorities, evaluating existing programs, proposing budget levels, and adjusting budget requests to the yearly budget allocation. Meets January to May, earlier if needed. Meeting times will be determined when committee is appointed. (Five students needed)

Faculty Tenure Committees
Conduct an evaluation process of probationary faculty which reviews classroom teaching, committee work, advising, institutional contributions, community contributions and availability to students. Committees recommend the awarding or non-rewarding of tenure. Each tenure committee will determine its meeting time. (One student for each of the tenure committees)

Budget Review and Planning Committee
Provides a forum for discussion of college budgets and use of financial resources that are reviewed and prepared with campus-wide perspectives and input. This committee shall work closely with the Vice President of Administration, the President’s Cabinet and provide recommendations to the Institutional Effectiveness Committee. Meets the second and fouth Mondays of the month from 2-4 pm. (Two students needed)

Campus Facilities Committee
Provides a forum where input from the college community regarding facilities and safety issues can be addressed. Meets the first Friday of the month from 2-4 pm. (Two students needed)

Student Policy Council
Looks at existing policies that effect students and update if needed and draft new policies when needed. Meets second and fourth Monday 2-4 p.m. (Two students needed)

Instructional Council
Provides leadership, coordination, and evaluation of all issues and activities related to the college curriculum. Meets first and third Monday 2-4 p.m. (Two students needed)

Diversity Committee
Increases awareness of and appreciation for our multicultural heritage; to encourage social responsibility and good citizenship related to issues of diversity; to influence curricular change, instructional strategies, student services and personnel practices that facilitate student and staff sensitivity and openness to diverse ideas, peoples and cultures. Meets the third Thursday of each month from 3-4:30 pm (Two students needed)

Technology Sub Committee
Reports to the Technology Committee and helps administer and recommends the funds for technology. (Three students needed)

Sustainability Committee
Makes decisions regarding the sustainability of Centralia College. (Two students needed)

Sports Hall of Fame Committee
The committee determines who will be inducted into the Centralia College Sports Hall of Fame. The committee meets during fall quarter. (One student needed.)

Distinguished Alumni Committee
Begins meeting in December to review the nominees for the award. The meetings typically last less than an hour in the afternoon. (One student needed)

Outstanding Student Committee
Each year as part of the commencement ceremony, at least one student, but no more than six students shall be presented with the “Outstanding Centralia College Student Award.” Students selected for the award shall demonstrate broad-based excellence and achievement. Accordingly, criteria shall be established to reflect this philosophy of well-rounded accomplishment. Nominations and selection shall occur during each spring quarter (Two students needed)

ASCC Election Committee
Is responsible for planning, supervising, and the scheduling and conducting of the election process for ASCC Student Government. (Four students needed)
