Centralia College Committees

College Committees With Student Members

Application for most college committee student positions are made through the Associated Students of Centralia College (ASCC). All appointments are made by the ASCC Student Government.

ASCC Election Committee
Oversees the ASCC Election process. This committee meets mid-February to mid-May each year. (Minimum of four students needed)

ASCC Interview Committee
Oversees the ASCC interview process for candidates for Student Government. Meets in Spring. (Six students needed)

ASCC Service & Activities Fee Budget Committee
A recommending body that reviews and recommends the Service & Activities Fee budget. It's responsible for proposing program priorities, evaluating existing programs, proposing budget levels, and adjusting budget requests to the yearly budget allocation. Meets January-May, earlier if needed. (Five students needed)

Budget Review and Planning Committee
Provides a forum for discussion of college budgets and use of financial resources that are reviewed and prepared with campus-wide perspectives and input. This committee shall work closely with the Vice President of Administration, the President's Cabinet and provide recommendations to the Institutional Effectiveness Committee. (Two students needed)

Campus Facilities Committee
Provides a forum where input from the college community regarding facilities and safety issues can be addressed. (Two students needed)

Distinguished Alumni Committee
Begins meeting in December to review the nominees for the award. The meetings typically last less than an hour in the afternoon. (One student needed)

Diversity Committee
Increases awareness of and appreciation for our multicultural heritage; to encourage social responsibility and good citizenship related to issues of diversity; to influence curricular change, instructional strategies, student services and personnel practices that facilitate student and staff sensitivity and openness to diverse ideas, peoples and cultures. (Two students needed)

Faculty Tenure Committees
Conduct an evaluation process of probationary faculty which reviews classroom teaching, committee work, advising, institutional contributions, community contributions and availability to students. Committees recommend the awarding or non-awarding of tenure. (One student for each committee)

Instructional Council
Provides leadership, coordination, and evaluation of all issues and activities related to the college curriculum. Meets 1st & 3rd Monday 2:00-4:00 pm. (One student needed)

Judicial Board
Reviews and acts upon grievances filed by students and acts as a hearing court for disciplinary action. (Four students needed)

Student Policy Council
Looks at existing policies that effect students and update if needed and draft new policies when needed. Meets 2nd & 4th Monday 2:00-4:00 pm. (Two students needed)

Outstanding Student Committee
Each year as part of the commencement ceremony, at least one student, but no more than six students shall be presented with the "Outstanding Centralia College Student Award." Students selected for the award shall demonstrate broad-based excellence and achievement. Accordingly, criteria shall be established to reflect this philosophy of "well-rounded" accomplishment. Nominations and selection shall occur during each spring quarter. (Two students needed)

Technology Sub Committee
Reports to the Technology Committee and helps administer and recommends the funds for technology. (Three students needed)
