College Level Reading Skills
Techniques you can use to improve your reading speed, concentration, and comprehension.

College Study Skills: How to Succeed in Your 1st College Class
A 7-step guide to increase success.

Communication Skills/Techniques
Ideas and methods to make you a better communicator in a variety of problem situations.

Dealing with Tests and Test Anxiety
Tips on dealing with test anxiety, how to predict what will be on tests, and strategies for taking different types of tests.

Do I Have a Disability?
Disabilities are not always visable; come and find out if you can receive assistance.

Exploring Careers
Changes in the job market are making career planning more challenging than ever. Learn how to identify career options and how to research them.

The Future is Now: How to Prepare a Scholarship Application
This workshop will discuss specific opportunities, fresh approaches to writing applications, and ways to broaden your academic experience.

Get a Student Life
Your student government representatives and activities/admissions team will share fun ways to get involved in campus life. Learn about clubs, organizations, drams, the student newsletter, volunteer opportunities, committees and other leadership events waiting for you.

"How Am I Intelligent?"
We are intelligent in many ways. How are you Intelligent? How does this fit in with your study interest? Your hobbies?

“How Do You Eat an Elephant?”
One piece at a time! If you have ever wanted to learn how to juggle, this is the program for you. Juggling, like many things in life, can seem like an overwhelming task to get through, but it is really just a matter of breaking it down into accomplishable pieces. Once you know you can juggle, it is easy to see how the same technique can work for any difficult task you face.

Introduction to the Writing Center
An informal meeting with English faculty in the Writing Center, to learn about this important resource, as well as the student literary arts organization, Beyond Parallax, and the annual writing contest.

Landlord Tenant Act
Are you a renter? Learn your basic rights and responsibilities under Washington State landlord-tenant law to avoid potential pain and suffering! Some forms will be given out and procedures explained.

Math Anxiety
What causes math anxiety and what you can do to overcome it.

Math - Where Do I Start?
You know you have to take a math class but you're not sure where to begin. Learn about CC's different math classes, what calculator you need and how to use it, and what resources are available.

Note Taking
Strategies for identifying what's important in literature, what to take notes on from texts or class discussions, and then how to pull your information together for an effective essay.

PTK Opportunity
Learn about the college's chapter of the national honor society Phi Theta Kappa, types of activities and involvement levels, and about the college's Honors Options for graduating.

Safer Sex=Safer Me
It's all about you're doin'…who you're doin' it with…and how. Candid talk, info on STDs, high-low risk, and demos about protection.

Student Support Services (SSS)

You will be provided with several fundamental memory techniques that can be used in any course, saving you perhaps hundreds of hours of studying! You will learn: six techniques to unveiling your natural genius, how to cut your study time in half, how to make memorizing quick, easy, and fun, how to unlock your natural intelligence, and of course, how to get higher grades with less effort!

Time Management
Time Management - the most critical skill for success in college. Topics will include managing time in context of your values and priorities, and tips for studying smarter not harder.

Transfer Planning
Learn how to figure out which schools are best suited for you and steps to guarantee a problem-free transfer to a four-year college or university.

Transfer Planning for Running Start
Running Start Students need to know what questions to ask four year colleges, how to submit transcripts from all schools attended, what classes to take, how credits transfer and more. Important admissions and test deadlines will also be highlighted.
