Pacific Mountain Regional Training Center
The Satsop site
The Satsop site is an existing, turnkey site, and is ideal as a regional center for the energy industry. It comprises existing buildings for office space, facilities that house high-tech equipment, and the potential to convert the facility into a high-end on-site training center that will serve the needs of the energy industry and the economic development needs of the region through two key strategies: Education and training, and economic innovation. The Satsop Development Park is strategically located within a 30-mile drive of the Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor, Pacific and Thurston County population centers, and its legacy as an abandoned power plant site brings with it a wealth of physical facilities and infrastructure that can be redeveloped and reused to provide educational and economic benefits for the region.Supporting growth with industry partners
The Satsop Center will also support regional economic growth through agreements with industry partners, higher education institutions and research centers that are leading the development of new energy tools and processes, technologies and technology transfer agreements. Examples include: fuel cell research, bio mass utilizing existing timber resources in the area, wind power and other new technologies. New innovations through applied research will be key to continued growth and the creation of new approaches to energy production and conservation. Bringing innovation, entrepreneurship, basic research and development together is a critical component for continued economic competitiveness for the industry and the region. For more information
