Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical.

Centralia College East with Fire Mountain Arts council presents the rock 'n roll musical Grease beginning Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Roxy Theater in downtown Morton. Additional performances take place Aug. 7, 8, 10, 11, 14, and 15. The Aug. 8 and 15 performances are Sunday matinees that begin at 2 p.m. All other performances begin at 7 p.m.

Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin,'" "It's Raining on Prom Night," and "Alone at the Drive-in Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.

An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

Advance tickets, $9 for adults and $4 for children, are on sale at Centralia College East, BCJ Gallery at the Roxy in Morton, and at Camera Exchange in Centralia.

Tickets at the door will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Hampton Lumber Mills and The East County Journal cosponsor the presentations.
