Bob played football, basketball, and baseball. He organized the first homecoming game and dance, athletic banquet and "Knothole" gang. He was the originator of the Twin City Youth Football program, coached and was president of Babe Ruth Baseball. Coach Mikalson and his wife were long-time residents of Centralia.
