Mike participated in both basketball and baseball. During the 1976-77 season, he was a starter in Coach Reimer's first basketball tournament team. During the 1977 baseball season he led the team in RBIs. After completing his teaching degree, he coached for one year as an assistant basketball coach in Yakima. He moved to Rochester, where he is an assistant basketball coach and assistant baseball coach. He resides in Centralia.
