About Financial Aid

Financial aid is designed to provide assistance when student resources are insufficient to meet the cost of going to college. Centralia College provides a comprehensive student financial aid program to eligible students. We help students access federal, state, and institutional funds to offset educational costs. The Financial Aid Office has an open door policy with caring staff to meet the needs of students. Please contact the Financial Aid office for application information.

Application Deadlines for 2013-2014

As most funds are available on a limited basis, we encourage you to apply early. For maximum consideration of available funds, you must have a complete financial aid file (FAFSA, Financial Aid Data Sheet, Application for Admissions, etc.) by April 15, 2013, for the 2013-2014 academic year.

What if I am selected for verification?

One in three Financial Aid Applications (FAFSA) are selected for a process called verification. This requires the Financial Aid Office to verify information that was reported on the FAFSA. New for 2013-14, there have been significant changes to the verification process. Verification is now customized, meaning that items required to be verified are different for each applicant. Verification groups are how students are identified by the processor and there are 5 different groupings. Depending on what group a student is assigned will determine what documents are needed to meet verification requirements.
The 5 groups are:

• V1 – Standard Verification Group
• V2 – SNAP (Food Assistance) Verification Group
• V3 – Child Support Verification Group
• V4 – Custom Verification
• V5 – Aggregate Verification Group

To ensure you complete the correct verification worksheets, you will need to check your financial aid information on the Student Financial Aid Portal.

Quarterly Financial Aid Hold Deadlines

If you have missed the above listed deadlines, you may be eligible for a Financial Aid Hold. Each quarter there will be an established hold deadline date. If you have a completed financial aid file, your classes will be placed on a Financial Aid Hold. This allows your classes to be held without payment after the tuition due date but before the quarter start. You may need to sign a Financial Aid Hold Agreement with the Business Office, acknowledging that if financial aid is not awarded or is not enough to cover tuition, then you are responsible for payment. Net Price Calculator: New tool to estimate expenses

The Net Price Calculator is a new tool which provides an estimate based on the price of attendance and financial aid provided to students in a previous year. It calculates an estimated amount that students like you paid, after grant aid and scholarships and before student loans, to attend Centralia College in a given year. Price of attendance and financial aid availability change year to year.
