HWC Construction Update:
This is the first construction update for the college's gym renovation project, i.e. the Health and Wellness Center (HWC). The final plans for the HWC include a major renovation of the overall facility; the creation of a new entrance and hall of fame facing Walnut Street; and the addition of approximately 5,000 square feet of office, event, instruction and exercise space. Upon completion, the "new" HWC will finally bring Centralia College's health and wellness facilities up to par with those found at other community colleges throughout the state and will provide top of the line sports and training facilities for Blazer athletic programs.
Team Construction Inc. of Vancouver, WA is the general contractor for this approximately $5 million project, which has officially begun today. The entire project is scheduled for completion near the end of the Fall 2008 quarter. Spring classes and general gym usage should not be restricted until May 16, 2008, after which there will be no usage of the facility. Plans call for fall quarter classes to be held at off campus facilities yet to be determined. For questions about gym usage issues please contact the Athletic Department at (360) 736-9391 ext. 247. For question related to HWC construction please send an email to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Gil Elder or you may contact him at (360) 736-9391 ext. 434.
