Meet Associate Professor Linda Foss
Teaching writing is my original passion, but my second career. I returned to college in my 30’s after burnout in an advertising career, earning my AA from Shoreline CC and my BA from the University of Washington—twenty years after my high school graduation—and finally an MFA in poetry from Antioch University.
I knew I wanted to work at a community college after the wonderful experience I had as a returning adult student. What I love about community colleges is how they welcome us whenever we're ready for the next step of our educations.
I currently teach lots of composition courses, creative writing and a few literature courses. My own writing is typically poetry, along with some personal essays, so I love working with writing students, even those who don’t think they can write or struggle with writing anxiety.
As part of my work here at the college, I also coordinate the Writing Center and am the faculty advisor for the literary and visual arts journal, Beyond Parallax.
