This lab has 2 parts. In part 1 you will be answering questions related to pictures of rocks on pp. 84-85. Part 2 is answering questions about a number of rocks in the front of the lab that I will put out.
1. A) Read the lab material starting on p. 77. Note that annotated pictures of rocks on p. 80.
B) Do question 1 on p. 83 of the book using the pictures of rocks on p. 84-85. You will use a photocopy of the flow chart on p. 81 to help you classify the rocks. Please write your answers on the copy of p. 87 that you receive in lab. Draw your own simple sketch of the rock cycle to do part 1. e. In part f, comment on the processes the rock might already have come through in addition to what could happen to it.
2. Using what you've learned and the flow chart, answer the questions about the 8 rocks on the front table.
A) For rock 1, how do you explain the difference between the rock in the middle and the rock that contains it? What can you say about the texture of the rock?
B) Describe this rock. How did it form? Why is it green? Why is it smooth?

D) Rock with pink crystals:
E) What is this sample made of? How did it get that way?
F)
G) Cool rock, wavy patterns.
H) Describe. What do you think it is composed of and how did it form?
