Gregory G. Gilbertson, M.S.
Director (faculty), and Associate Professor, Criminal Justice Program
Centralia College has employed Associate Professor Gilbertson since September 1999. Prior to accepting his position at Centralia College, Associate Professor Gregory Gilbertson worked for many years as a police officer in the state of Georgia. He served with the City of Atlanta Police Department and the City of La Grange Police Department. His assignments included juvenile court investigator, SWAT team tactical officer and senior patrolman.
Associate Professor Gilbertson is a graduate of the University of Washington and Columbus State University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Justice Administration. In addition to teaching criminal justice courses for Centralia College and Saint Martin’s College, Associate Professor Gilbertson is a licensed private investigator and owns and operates his own private investigations agency.
Prior to entering law enforcement, Associate Professor Gilbertson served in the United States Army. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate of the United States Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Associate Professor Gilbertson served in the Army as both a commissioned and non-commissioned officer of infantry soldiers. He currently resides in Lacey and is the proud father of two children, an 18-year old son, Garrett, and a five-year old daughter (Chihuahua), Lilly.

David Ruiz
Mr. Ruiz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice/Public Administration from Regents College, Albany, New York and an Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Sheriff's Academy Training Certificate from the Imperial Valley College in Imperial, California. He is the author of a manual for Law Enforcement and Correctional Agencies in Hostage Negotiations and is professionally affiliated with both the American Correctional Association and Washington Correctional Association. Mr. Ruiz is a native of California and currently resides in the Centralia/Chehalis area.
David Ruiz began his accomplished career in corrections in 1970 with the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer and in 1972 signed on with the Imperial County Sheriff Department as a Corrections Deputy. After a short stint with the Immigration and Naturalization Service as a Detention Officer, Mr. Ruiz joined the Federal Bureau of Prisons starting as a Corrections Officer and working his way up to Senior Lieutenant. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he worked as a Case Manager and Correctional Program Specialist working on program development for the Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar, in San Diego, California.

Terence J. McAdam
Forensic Supervisor, Washington State Patrol Tacoma Crime Laboratory.
Mr. Terry McAdam is the newest addition to our cadre' of adjunct faculty at Centralia College. Mr. McAdam has 26 years of experience in the field of forensic investigations. He is currently employed as the Supervisory Agent In Charge of the Washington State Patrol Crime Laboratory in Tacoma, Washington. He is also a proud graduate of the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1979. He also earned a National Certificate in Chemistry from the University of Ulster in 1977.
Terry McAdam has been continuously employed as a criminal forensic scientist since 1977. He has served both the Washington State Patrol (16 years) and The Northern Ireland Forensic Science Service (10 years) with distinction for more than a quarter century. He has developed subject matter expertise and decades of total experience in the following areas of trace evidence:
- Glass analysis (17 years)
- Paint analysis (17 years)
- Small particle identification (17 years)
- Fibers (11 years)
- Explosives (3 years)
- Hair (14 years)
- Clothing damage interpretation (17 years)
- Scanning Electron Microanalysis (17 years)
- Shoe impressions (11 years)
- Tire impressions (10 years)
Furthermore, during the course of his career, Terry McAdam has personally processed over 330 violent felony crime scenes, to include homicides and rapes (175), arsons and bombings (60), hit and run accidents (45), and firearms assaults (50). Terry McAdam has also played an integral role in the investigations of both the Robert Lee Yates (Spokane and Tacoma serial murder) and the Gary Leon Ridgeway (Green River serial murder) cases. He has testified in various felony cases in superior and federal courts throughout the State of Washington on 163 occasions involving trace evidence and crime scene processing. In addition to his academic credentials and work experience, Terry McAdam has successfully completed nearly 800 hours of additional education and training in forensic science and crime scene technology during his tenure with the Washington State Patrol.

Lieutenant Loreli Thompson
Lacey Police Department
Lieutenant Thompson has 23 years of law enforcement training and experience. She is currently enrolled as a Doctoral Student in Psychology, (Crime and Violence Tract) The Fielding Institute, Seattle and Santa Barbara. In addition. Lieutenant Thompson earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Chapman University, a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Martin's College.
Lieutenant Thompson has over 500 hours of training in the field of sexual offenses and interpersonal violence. She is a Washington State certified trainer for Law Enforcement on Domestic Violence. She personally developed the original program for tracking and monitoring Registered Sex Offenders for the City of Lacey. Lieutenant Thompson is frequently requested by, and assigned to temporary duty at other state and local law enforcement agencies to investigate cases or allegations of inter-office sexual harassment, officers accused of sexual offenses, violent predators, and other unusual or extraordinary crimes.

Detective Bradford R. Borden
Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Sex Offender Program Manager
Detective Brad Borden joined the Centralia College Criminal Justice Program two years ago. He has over 31 years of military and civilian law enforcement education, training and experience. He has consistently been one of our most popular and consistent adjunct instructors. Detective Borden earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College in Albany, New York in 1991. He is also an active member of the following professional organizations:
- Federal Criminal Investigators Association
- Criminal Investigations Division Agents Association
- National Sheriff's Association
Detective Borden is currently employed by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office as the Sex Offender Program Manager. In this position, Detective Borden is directly responsible for maintaining and continually updating the status and registration of sex offenders in Lewis County. These duties include maintaining the offender's current home addresses and investigating any reports of re-offending behavior or other criminal and administrative violations these individuals may commit within our community. Detective Borden has been employed by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office since 1994.
During his career, Detective Borden has personally investigated over 300 homicides or suspicious / unnatural deaths in the United States and overseas. He has vast wealth of investigatory experience in all manner of felony and violent crimes. He has also served as the lead investigator in several complex fraud investigations involving defense contracts. Detective Borden has also served with distinction on a number of Executive Protection operations for top Department of Defense dignitaries and officials, to include the Secretary of Defense. Brad Borden has also instructed college level courses in criminal investigation, police administration, and advanced narcotics investigations for Los Angeles City College.
Detective Borden also serves his agency as an instructor for the Lewis County Reserve Police Officer Academy. He retired from active duty in the United States Army in 1994 after 21 years of dedicated service to our nation.

Detective Roland Weiss
Thurston County Sheriff’s Office
Detective Weiss holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Washington Law School (December 2002), a Juris Doctor degree from the Seattle University School of Law (December 1997), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice from Central Washington University (June 1978). He is also an Honor Graduate from the Washington State Law Enforcement Academy (October 1980). Detective Weiss is a current member of the Washington State Bar Association and a practicing attorney.
Detective Roland Weiss has been a police officer for 26 years. He began his career as a reserve officer with the Lacey Police Department in 1977. For the past 24 years, Detective Weiss has served with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in a wide variety of investigative, training, tactical and supervisory positions, to include the assignments:
- Special Assault Team
- General Investigations
- Sex Offender Tracking
- Special Weapons and Tactics Team
- Patrol Supervisor
- Training Manager
- Field Training Officer
- Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Instructor
Detective Weiss has personally investigated hundreds of violent felony crimes during the course of his law enforcement career. His exceptional academic credentials and practical, real-world law enforcement experience has enhanced and empowered the Criminal Justice Program and faculty team at Centralia College.

Mr. Bradd Reynolds
Mr. Bradd Reynolds is the primary instructor of two forensic investigation courses in Crime Scene Photography and Video. He is also a former firefighter for the cities of Glendale, Arizona and Kelso, Washington. Bradd Reynolds also served the cities of Kelso and Centralia as a full-time police officer for 15 years. While employed as a Centralia police officer, Bradd Reynolds worked as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, K-9 Handler and was recognized as the City of Centralia "Police Officer of the Year" for 1980. In addition, Bradd served the Centralia Police Department as the agency hostage negotiator. He also served as a defensive tactics instructor at both the state and reserve police academies. After 13 years of dedicated law enforcement service to our community, Bradd suffered a permanent injury in the line of duty that required early retirement.
Since that time, Bradd Reynolds has worked as a full-time professional photographer. He owns and operates a portrait studio in Chehalis, Washington. Bradd Reynolds holds an "Associate Fellow of Photography" certification from the Washington State Professional Photographers Association. Bradd remains very active in the community, and also serves as a member of the Centralia College Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
