Glassblowing

Hands-on Children's Glassblowing (7-14)
Parents are invited to spend a day with their children in this fun and unique experience. This one-day workshop lets your child be the artist: twisting, cutting, squishing and smooshing molten glass! Your son or daughter create their own piece of art glass to take home! Students must wear light-weight, long-sleeved shirts. Class is taught by instructor Kevin Regan. Kevin has taught glassblowing at the Seattle Glassblowing studio, Eugene Glass school, and his own studio, Central Glassworks. Classes will be held at Central Glassworks located at 109 W. Main St.

Beginning Glassblowing
Class provides a complete introduction to the process of blowing glass. Students will learn basic techniques including color application and utilize them toward making paperweights and blown vessels; such as cups, bowls, plates, and vases. students must wear light-weight; long-sleeved shirts to class. Instructor Kevin Regan has over thirteen years of glassblowing experience. He utilizes both Italian and Swedish techniques in his artwork. Kevin has taught glassblowing at the Seattle Glassblowing studio, Eugene Glass school, and his own studio, Central Glassworks. Classes will be held at Central Glassworks located at 109 W. Main St. Students will purchase materials for projects, approximately $200 for all class projects. Students will complete approximately 12 projects to take home.

Block Printing

Block Printing
Learn techniques for the relief printmaking process using the flexibility and ease of linoleum. A relief is achieved by carving into the surface using special tools to leave raised images. Those images are then inked and printed without a press to create a dynamic and textured print that can have many layers and colors. Students have the option of creating a multi-block image or themed cards to exchange with students to complete an edition. Open to both teens and adults. Material fee $10. Instructor, Ellen Miffitt brings over 30 years of artistic experience in the arts and personal expression to art instruction.

Scrapbooking

NEW! Scrapbooking Made Easy
Create a unique memory book using your pictures and your story in just 4 sessions. Class will include basic scrapbooking techniques, paper tearing, photo cropping, tone on tone color and pockets. NEW!  Precious Metal Clay Jewelry
Precious Metal Clay (PMC), fine silver clay form, is used to create unique jewelry pieces in a short amount of time and then is simply fired in a kiln. Explore creating hollow beads and forms construct a pendant, use patina and create your own unique jewelry in this class. Before working directly with the PMC, modeling clay will be used to explore the basic forming techniques. Introduction to Watercolor
All new projects. Returning students welcome! This course is for anyone who has never tried watercolor and would like to experience it prior to investing in supplies. Each week simple techniques will be presented and applied to a painting. At least 1 painting will be completed each week. Intended for the intermediate or advanced artist 18 years and older. The nude human form will be studied in several class meetings. Learn to draw using all the basic elements including line, shape, pattern, space, and value while investigating gesture, contour, proportion and form in light using a variety of materials and processes. Fabric Art

Class teaches intermediate students who know how to thread a serger or need just a quick review. Basic serging techniques showing how to create serger piping, serge curves and use specialty threads for the seam treatment. New! Beginning Quilters Mini-Camps
Do you want to learn how to quilt but don't have the time for 8 weeks worth of classes? Have we got the class for you! quilters mini-camps are designed as one, four hour class. Students may sign up for just one class or more. Students will learn to use a rotary cutter and ruler, cutting and pressing directions, and seam allowance. Each mini-camp demonstrates different techniques. April is geared toward straight seam machine piecing. May is machine piecing and applique and June is machine curved seam piecing. Stained Glass

Beginning Stained Glass – Lead & Foil
Learn all the techniques to make and complete your first stained glass panel. Class covers selecting design, leading basics, soldering, and finishing techniques. Patterns and equipment provided by the instructor.  Students will purchase their supplies from the instructor at class. Glass supplies will cost approximately $100- $120. It explains what is involved in becoming  self-employed, freelance career artist or craftsperson, and looks at the many opportunities for artists or crafters. Topics covered include: the artist's investments in knowledge, tools of the trade, software, Internet access, and a space to work; finding, evaluating and contacting markets for selling arts and crafts; insights into what galleries and buyers want; working with artist's agents and galleries; business licensing and sales taxes; royalties and licensing fees; establishing fees and prices for works of art; contractual agreements; copyright laws; derivative works and plagiarism; publishing rights; flexibility and fluency in creative projects; keeping the creative works flowing at all times and handle creative blocks; marketing your won works via the internet; selling at arts/crafts shows; and more. Students are encouraged to bring along anything about which they have question or want input. Plenty of time will be allotted for discussion and getting questions answered.
