Black & White Darkroom Lab
For all skill levels. Use the darkroom for your projects. Bring in old family negatives or work on a new idea. Students supply the negatives and the photographic paper. Darkroom technician, Marlene Hodge has 20 years of experience and will help get you started.

Darkroom Photogram
Start your darkroom experience with easy to create photograms. No negatives needed. Place various objects on photography paper, expose to light and bring the image up in the developer tray. No limit to the types of images possible. Students need to bring a variety of some of the following materials: marbles, bottles, keys, flowers, dried materials or any object with a strong shape to use as a photogram subject. Students will use 6-10 sheets of photography paper at a cost of 85 cents each, payable to the instructor. Packets of photo paper are also available at the college bookstore if students would prefer to purchase paper prior to class.

Glassblowing

Hands-on Children's Glassblowing (7-14)
Parents are invited to spend a day with their children in this fun and unique experience. This one-day workshop lets your child be the artist: twisting, cutting, squishing and smooshing molten glass! Your son or daughter create their own piece of art glass to take home! Students must wear light-weight, long-sleeved shirts. Class is taught by instructor Kevin Regan. Kevin has taught glassblowing at the Seattle Glassblowing studio, Eugene Glass school, and his own studio, Central Glassworks. Classes will be held at Central Glassworks located at 109 W. Main St.

Beginning Glassblowing
Class provides a complete introduction to the process of blowing glass. Students will learn basic techniques including color application and utilize them toward making paperweights and blown vessels; such as cups, bowls, plates, and vases. students must wear light-weight; long-sleeved shirts to class. Instructor Kevin Regan has over thirteen years of glassblowing experience. He utilizes both Italian and Swedish techniques in his artwork. Kevin has taught glassblowing at the Seattle Glassblowing studio, Eugene Glass school, and his own studio, Central Glassworks. Classes will be held at Central Glassworks located at 109 W. Main St. Students will purchase materials for projects, approximately $200 for all class projects. Students will complete approximately 12 projects to take home.

Block Printing

Block Printing
Learn techniques for the relief printmaking process using the flexibility and ease of linoleum. A relief is achieved by carving into the surface using special tools to leave raised images. Those images are then inked and printed without a press to create a dynamic and textured print that can have many layers and colors. Students have the option of creating a multi-block image or themed cards to exchange with students to complete an edition. Open to both teens and adults. Material fee $10. Instructor, Ellen Miffitt brings over 30 years of artistic experience in the arts and personal expression to art instruction.

The Art of Handmade Paper

Drawing and Painting

Introduction to Watercolor
All new projects. Returning students welcome! This course is for anyone who has never tried watercolor and would like to experience it prior to investing in supplies. Each week simple techniques will be presented and applied to a painting. At least 1 painting will be completed each week. A notebook will be developed with a final painting in mind to be painted at the last class. Instructor, Sue Watcher, has been working with watercolor for 5 years and is great at teaching beginners and "fearful" artists. Materials cost $15.

Drawing from Life
Intended for the intermediate or advanced artist 18 years and older. The nude human form will be studied in several class meetings. Learn to draw using all the basic elements including line, shape, pattern, space, and value while investigating gesture, contour, proportion and form in light using a variety of materials and processes. A supply list will be sent to you upon registration. Taught by Michael Kohlmeier, a former CC graduate with a B.A. in fine arts. Michael is currently a professional architectural designer as well as a theatrical set designer and painter with over thirty years of experience. Class fee includes modeling fee.

Brown Bag with Elayne and Jane

Take time out to relax and meet others while learning the timeless skills of hand sewing. From needle threading tricks to organizing skills. Learn techniques for hand piecing and appliqué blocks from a quilt made in 1863! Bring your lunch along with fabric scraps and take time out with Elayne and Jane. Stained Glass

Beginning Stained Glass – Lead & Foil
Learn all the techniques to make and complete your first stained glass panel. Class covers selecting design, leading basics, soldering, and finishing techniques. Patterns and equipment provided by the instructor.  Students will purchase their supplies from the instructor at class. Glass supplies will cost approximately $100- $120. A map and small supply list will be mailed to you upon registration. Taught by Karen Milton, a 26-year veteran of stained glass work.  She has taught glass creations for over 20 years in Washington.
