Basket Coiling

NEW! Beginning Pine Needle Coiling
 This class will teach students the first steps in creating a beautiful and unique pine needle basket. Students will learn basic stitches and pine needle basket processes. During class students will work on creating the bottom of a basket and as students gain confidence in the stitching they will proceed toward completing a small basket. Instructor David Pruitt began coiling pine needles over 15 years ago and has worked the last 2 1/2 years mastering the technique and integrating new ideas into the art. Supply cost $20

Drawing/Painting

NEW! Drawing: from the right & left side of the brain
This drawing class combines the intuitive techniques of right brain drawing with the traditional skills of proportion, shading and perspective. Students use graphite, charcoal and ink to explore the integration of both left and right brain methods. Right brain drawing techniques help students reconnect with their natural creative ability. These together with left brain techniques provide comprehensive drawing skills which are a foundation for most art media. While this is intended as a beginning drawing class, more experienced students are welcome. Many lessons will be based on ideas from the highly acclaimed Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. Instructor, Julie Szten has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Teaching from Whitworth College and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Supplies $10.

Beginning Artist Watercolor
If you have not yet explored art because "You cannot even draw a straight line" or any other reason. This class is for you as all you need to bring for success is a willingness to try. Come explore and easily find beginning success with other beginning students. Each week basic techniques will be demonstrated and students will practice and apply the techniques and finish at least 1 painting with the help of group and individual instruction . Youth are welcome! Students under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Each 4 week session will repeat the same projects and skill development. Instructor, Sue Wachter, has been working with watercolor for 6 years and is great at teaching beginning and "fearful" artists. Supply cost of $15 will cover all supplies needed.

This class is for artists who have had at least some beginning painting experience or who have attended Sue's Introduction or Beginner classes in the past. Projects will be geared to beginning to intermediate artists. New projects will be painted during each of the 4 week sessions. Each class will begin with a brief introduction on a specific project. Individual assistance will be provided during the rest of the evening. At least 1 painting will be completed each week. Drawing from Life
Intended for the intermediate or advanced artist 18 years and older. The nude human form will be studied in several class meetings. Learn to draw using all the basic elements including line, shape, pattern, space, and value while investigating gesture, contour, proportion and form in light using a variety of materials and processes. A supply list will be sent to you upon registration. Taught by Michael Kohlmeier, a former CC graduate with a B.A. in fine arts. Michael is currently a professional architectural designer as well as a theatrical set designer and painter with over thirty years of experience. Class fee includes modeling fee.

Anatomy of a Shirt
This series of "hands on classes will break down the construction methods of sewing a shirt. Students can sign up for one class or all three. Quilters Mini-Camps

Quilters Mini-Camps are designed as one, four hour class. Students may sign up for just one class or more. Nine to Four with Elayne and Jane

Stained Glass

Beginning Stained Glass – Lead & Foil
Learn all the techniques to make and complete your first stained glass panel. Class covers selecting design, leading basics, soldering, and finishing techniques. Patterns and equipment provided by the instructor.  Students will purchase their supplies from the instructor at class. Glass supplies will cost approximately $100- $120. A map and small supply list will be mailed to you upon registration. Taught by Karen Milton, a 26-year veteran of stained glass work.  She has taught glass creations for over 20 years in Washington. Glass-Blowing

Beginning Glass-Blowing
Class provides a complete introduction to the process of blowing glass. Students will learn basic techniques including color application and utilize them toward making paperweights and blown vessels; such as cups, bowls, plates, and vases. Students must wear light-weight long-sleeved shirt to class. Instructor Kevin Regan has over thirteen years of glassblowing experience. He utilizes both Italian and Swedish techniques in his artwork. Kevin has taught glassblowing at the Seattle Glassblowing Studio, Eugene Glass School, and Central Glassworks. Classes will be held at Central Glassworks located at 109 W. Main St. Students will purchase materials for projects, approximate cost $200 for all class projects. Students will complete approximately 12 projects to take home.

Jewelry

Basic Enameled Jewelry
The art of creating with enamel on metal is a well-documented art form. Come create some pendants, pins and a pair of earrings for gift giving or to keep for yourself. Participants will learn basic enameling procedure and simple techniques such as stenciling, sgraffito, overglazes and underglazes on copper. No prior metalwork experience necessary.
