Course description: BOTA 110 explains basic concepts in plant biology, with an emphasis on plant diversity and how plants grow and reproduce. Modern issues concerning agriculture and conservation will be discussed.

Botany 113 Plant Identification and Classification (5), lecture and lab
Course description: This course covers the identification and classification of vascular plants, with an emphasis on native plants of Western Washington. Field trips will be taken during some lab periods.
Target audience: This course is a component for some degrees in botany, conservation biology, and natural resources. In addition, this course satisfies part of the science distribution requirement.
Prerequisites: None. Bota 110 is useful preparation.
Botany 150 Dendrology – Trees in Our Environment (5), lecture and lab.
Course description: This course provides an introduction to biology through a focus on the biology of trees, from cells and evolution through tree ecology and urban trees. Identification of trees will be featured, including both Pacific Northwest natives and common street trees.
Target audience: This course satisfies part of the science distribution requirement. This is also a valuable introductory course for students with an interest in forestry and forest conservation.
