Assessment Mini Grant Guidelines

PURPOSE: The purpose of Assessment Mini Grants is to support projects that assess outcomes of teaching, learning, or institutional effectiveness.

THRUSTS: The Assessment Committee is especially interested in funding Mini Grants concerned with assessment of Overarching Themes:

  • Reasoning:
  • The ability to extract information from data, develop ideas and solutions, establish logical progression in thinking, and problem solve using such procedures as literary analysis or the scientific method.

    Written, Oral and Visual Communication:

  • The ability to make oneself understood in public, interpersonal, professional, artistic, and technical arenas.

    Exploration -- Self and Others:

  • An awareness of the values, beliefs, customs, and contributions of persons from one's own and other traditions, ethnicities, classes, and genders.

    Resourcefulness:

  • The ability to adapt to change, such as technological innovations or environmental conditions.

    Responsibility:

  • The ability to be accountable to self, society, and the natural world.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: Any Centralia College faculty member may apply. Applications showing a collaborative effort among faculty members, programs, disciplines, offices, and services are encouraged.

PROJECT CRITERIA: Single awards are available up to $500. Larger awards will be considered depending on the size and scope of the project. Cycle of Assessment teams in particular need to communicate current year's goals to the committee.

The proposed project should seek to improve Centralia College policies or procedures and/or result in some clear educational benefit for teachers and learners.

Projects must have a clearly defined purpose and use either quantitative or qualitative data. Projects must follow the established timetable.

Any funded assessment mini-grant will state in written form, and if presented verbally, that it is/was an assessment project.

  • Applications to Assessment Office until __ (date)_____.
  • Approval by Assessment Committee within two (2) weeks.
  • Written progress report to Assessment Office at mid point.
  • Final written Mini Grant Report due to Assessment Office including a one paragraph synopsis of project __(date)_____.
  • Presentation (15 to 20 minutes) at the next Mini Grant Showcase - date TBA.
